About Technical Assistance

Legal Momentum's partner the National Immigrant Women's Advocacy Project at American University Washington College of Law (NIWAP, pronounced new-app) provides individual technical assistance to advocates, attorneys, social services and health care providers, justice system personnel and others working with immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking in persons.  For information about our technical assistance for law enforcement on U-visa issues, please read about our project funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

We do not provide technical assistance or legal advice to individuals.  If you are an immigrant victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking in persons, please access our Directory for a referral.  If you are an immigrant victim, instead of contacting us, please ask the person who provides you with services to contact us for assistance.

  • Immigration Relief including VAWA self-petition and cancellation, U visas, T visas

  • Access to public benefits

  • Family law and protection orders

  • Working with the criminal justice system

  • Access to services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking

  • Access to culturally competent services

  • Dynamics of domestic violence experienced by immigrants

  • Trafficking in persons

For all other technical assistance and requests for training, please contact the NIWAP at niwap@wcl.american.edu or at (202)274-4457.
